I discovered this gem of a restaurant on a trip to Saratoga last summer. I was thrilled to find it still there this summer when we visited again. I wish they would open a branch on Long island, so I can enjoy their food more than once a year! I was first attracted by the lure of finally being able to enjoy crispy fried seafood after so many years of not being able to have it, and that certainly turned out to be all that I had hoped for and more. And their prices are absolutley unbeatable. However, the unexpected part was the fabulous selection of gluten-free baked goods that Dawn prepares. I've tried baking my own from scratch and from mixes and prepared products from dozens of manufactureres over the past several years, but the breads, cakes and cookies at KD's are consistently wonderful in taste, texture, appearance and aroma - unlike so many GF products that make me just want to avoid them altogether.

I love the ride to get here, and I am always happy with whatever I order. It just gets better each time. They have an excellent selection of frozen goods.

A refreshing and delicious option to "another" salad for lunch - the fried clams and onion rings were beyond wonderful! I tasted my husband's GF scallops and they were equally good - it's been almost 4 years since I tasted yummy crunchy seafood and o-rings! Thank you for the great food and friendly service from Kelly - we will return.

Wow! We discovered this wonderful shop a few days before Christmas, and drove there in a huge snowstorm. Worth it ! We had delicious GF fried chicken, the GF fried fish and spectacular GF onion rings. These were exceptionally good, better than most regular onion rings. Super crispy. Dawn , the chef, brought us a few GF, dairy-free cream puffs to try… and then we bought a bunch more, they were so good. We also bought a bag of cookies for later. We will go back next time we’re in town ! Wish KD’s would open a NYC branch !

I was really saddened to hear from Dawn about the negative review one poster put here. She has worked tirelessly to provide foods that are safe across many food allergy issues. Every time I and other customers have given her a new food challenge, she has met and exceeded our expectations. The poster with the corn issue is being a bit unfair, in my opinion, as I highly doubt Dawn would go to all this effort and then lie about ingredients. I believe Dawn's explanation, that in a very chaotic setting (a gluten free foods fair) during which Dawn posted a sign stating what the various foods were free of, to offhandedly ask a question of such importance is a bit ridiculous.
I'm also curious as to how this poster has eaten at the fish fry with her family and never discussed a corn allergy with Dawn. As I said, Dawn is very approachable and would certainly have been on the job of creating her own corn free powdered sugar had she been made aware of that poster's need for such.
I suggest the poster visit with Dawn in the more calm setting of the fish fry to discuss both the food fair issue and how Dawn can satisfy the poster and family in the future. PLEASE do not bash and destroy the reputation of the one person in our area who is accommodating to so many people with various food allergies and intolerances!
